Review: Just a Summer Thing by A. Fae

★★★★✩
Book Blurb
Tatianna has summer dating rules. They’re pretty simple really. What happens at the lake, stays at the lake.
Aimi is there for two weeks for a family reunion. The college sophomore has her sights set on Tatianna, though.
Tatianna has plans for a short summer fling but Aimi may have a different agenda.
Will what happens at the lake stay at the lake?
My Review
Small disclosure: A. Fae is a longtime friend of mine. That being said, she asked me to read and review her book so here we are.
Just a Summer Thing is a quick little read that is fast paced and takes place over a short period of time. It centers around two college-age girls that are on their summer break away from school. One of them has strict rules about her summer dating life. She knows that most of her flings are just that, but then the other one comes around and makes her question all that.
I liked the imagery that A. Fae used. It was easy to picture the setting and the appearance of the main characters. Both characters felt really true to life, like someone I would know. They weren’t magically perfect or without flaws. I enjoyed that it was written in the first person because it felt more intimate being in the head of the main character. I also thought it was easy to follow and an enjoyable little read.
What I missed was a conflict. There was some conflict within Tatianna herself, but I wanted there to be something more that the two had to overcome. I also wanted to get to know the girls a little bit more. What was shared about them were surface things, things they liked and enjoyed but nothing really about what made them tick.
This book is a sweet romance with some steamy elements thrown in. If you’re looking for something to brighten your day or to curl up with your blanket and coffee, this is the book for you.
